Here's how that works...
The general idea of a silent auction is for all interested players to bid once on an item, and at the end of the auction the highest bid is the winner. This lets people get involved in the auction that they may not win in the standard competitive type auction format. There is no outbidding one another; you only get one shot at it. This gives everyone a chance at winning the item.
Interested players are welcome to place a bid by selecting the item for purchase, and running through our shopping cart. You may place your bid in the comments section, and select Money Order as payment option to avoid going through the credit card module.
We will certainly work on making this as simple and clean as possible, but wanted to get this started, so please bare with us.
The "CORE RULES" of this auction follow:
The Rules
1) Auctioneer will post pictures and details of item, as well as any minimum bid, and an end date/time for the auction.
2) Anyone bidding on the item should place one bid only. If there are two or more bids by one person the first bid is noted and the rest are invalid and will be discarded. Also any bids below a minimum bid set by the auctioneer will be discarded. Any posts coming in after the close of auction will be similarly disregarded.
3 ) Following the end of the auction, the bids are compared and the highest bid is the winner. The Auctioneer posts who won, highest price, and time stamp if needed.
(Example: FredGarvin won with a high bid of 100k [ 02/03/2006 12:34:56 ].
4) If the highest bid is owned by 2 or more people, the bid that was received by the Auctioneer first is the winner. All of the highest bids will be posted, with their time stamp so everyone can see.
(Example: Fred Garvin won with a high bid of $10K [ 03/16/2006 01:23:45 ]. Angelina Jolie also bid $10K, but followed winner’s bid at [ 03/17/2006 12:34:56 ].
Time stamp needed if there are more than 2 high bids, the earlier timestamp wins. Time Stamp is the tie breaker.)
5) Minimum bids by the Auctioneer are optional. If a minimum bid is posted then all bids under that minimum will be discarded. If there is no minimum bid, then bidders can submit any bid they choose and it WILL be noted.
6) Winning bidder must be prepared to honor their bid within 24 hours of close of auction. Should a winning bid not be honored, we will post this, and the item falls to the next highest bidder, who then has 24 hours to honor their bid.
Payments and fees:
Additional fees:
- California State and Local Sales Tax will be added if applicable.
- Ground shipping and insurance is included.
- Expedited or international shipping costs will be extra.

These are all the rules and general guidelines we think we need as of 3/9/06.
Now, here's the proverbial fine print.
The rules are subject to change at our discretion.
This is a private auction run by EDC Knives, this is not ebay.
By virtue of this, and the lack of any rating system, we reserve the right to decline any bidder for any reason. You will be notified if your bid is declined and why. Members of the knife community in overall good standing are welcome to participate.
We reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time for any reason.
We will do our best to describe items as accurately as possible and include detailed pictures. Sometimes things slip by us, so all auction goods are sold with a satisfaction guarantee (like everything else we sell.) If you find something seriously wrong with the item that we did not describe, you are welcome to return it for a full refund. Keep in mind that if an item is a prototype, it may not be perfect, and it most certainly has been handled and possibly carried and/or used. |
