Product Description

Todd Begg Knives is happy to announce the formation of our new Steelcraft Series with the release of our first full production knife, The Sun Tzu Kwaiken. With the Sun Tzu Kwaiken we have joined forces with Reate Knives to bring you the highest quality in design and function that we feel is attainable in a production knife.

Following shamelessly stolen from BeggKnives.com

With this limited edition DLC Black & Gold Kwaiken we took the extra step to add some serious  in-house customization. We jewel iced the flats of the scales and then completely coated this Kwaiken with DLC.  We then re-machine the boarders on the scales and then anodized gold. The pocket clip has been stonewashed and then the top flats and side flats have been jewel iced/gold anodized. The back spacer has been jewel iced all around the periphery and the raised jimping has been polished. The flats of the lanyard hole has been hand satin finished and then the back spacer is completely anodized gold. All hardware (pivot and screws) has been heat colored gold as well..

These will be very limited.

  • 6Al4V titanium handle
  • CPM-S35VN blade steel
  • Framelock with steel lock tip insert
  • 3D machined pocket clip
  • Ceramic detent
  • Ceramic IKBS
  • Design won “Best Tactical Folder” at the 2014 Knifemakers Guild show.

This is the grand finale of our limited edition batches of in-house customized Kwaikens. This is it guys so once they are gone, they are gone for good. Thank you for your support!

  1. I wasnt sure 5 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Aug 2016

Trusting the reviews I had read and seen, I decided to order one of these knives. I'll be honest and say that the fact that these are made in China was a little hard to get over.

With that said, once I opened the box and took this piece out, my previous misconceptions instantly disappeared. In fact this is up there as one of the nicest non-custom knives I have ...and I own just a few (I.e. Strider, Reeves, Emerson, Microtech, G&G, Moiser, Ralph, RJ Martin, Rassenti, Busse, Benchmade, Spyderco...you get the idea...just a few). Not only is it asthetically well done, it's functionally precise.

It has a thin profile and although it has a decent length blade, it carries thin. Going back to asthetics, the ice that Begg puts on this version of the knife is very cool. I was surprised that the inside of the backspace was also iced, eg nice touch. The color of the "gold" coloring is darker in natural light....closer to a bronze color...which I prefer. That includes the pivot.

The action of this knife is on par with the rest of the reviews of this knife, that is to say, awesome. Detent tension is perfect, very smooth opening on those IKBS ceramic bearings, and solid lock up (@30% on mine).

It looks like Duane has sold out of this version of the Kwaiken and Begg isn't going to do any more customizations after they sell this last batch. The extra $$$ for the custom touches was worth it IMO.

Bottom line, if Begg/Reate keep making knives of this caliber, you can bet I'm going to be owning a lot more "Made in China" knives...LOL!!!
